Plugin details

Enter Key Submission is a lightweight Bubble plugin that lets you trigger workflows instantly when a user presses Enter in a multiline input or text field. It’s perfect for chat boxes, command inputs, or quick text submissions without buttons. The plugin detects Enter presses, publishes the text to the "submitted_text" state (i.e. 'enter key submissions - submitted text'), and can optionally clear the input after submission. You can also control behavior such as allowing modifier keys (Shift, Ctrl, etc.) and preventing default newlines. Seamless, responsive, and precise—this plugin gives you full control over keyboard-based form or chat interactions in Bubble apps. You can also use the workfow action "Clear Input by ID" to instantly reset any input on your page using its element ID.
Simple, lightweight, and flexible, this plugin makes form and chat experiences feel seamless, modern, and intuitive—all without extra clicks or complex conditions.

Instructions

📘 Instructions
Add the Element:

Drag the Enter Key Submission element onto your page. This invisible helper listens for Enter key presses in a specific input.

Set the Target Input:

In the properties panel, enter the ID attribute of the multiline input (textarea) you want to monitor. You can find or assign this ID under the input’s “ID attribute” field in Bubble.

Customize Behavior:

Trigger on Enter: Enable this to activate submission when Enter is pressed.

Prevent Default: Stops Enter from adding new lines.

Allow Modifiers: Lets Enter work with keys like Ctrl or Shift.

Run a Workflow:

In your workflow tab, choose “An Enter Key Submission detected” as the event. Use the element’s "submitted_text" state to access the user’s input.

Optionally Clear Inputs Manually:

Keep in mind that bubble's default 'clear relevant inputs" won't work when using this plugin. Therefore, you'll need to add the "Clear Input by ID" action to reset any input or textarea by specifying its ID. This ensures consistent clearing even when auto-clear is disabled or you need custom logic.
