Bubble DB Schema lets Bubble developers instantly visualize their app’s database structure as a clean, relational schema.
*To use this plugin your app must have a paid plan.*

With one click, the plugin reads your app’s Data API schema and generates DBML that can be opened directly in dbdiagram.io for visualization, sharing, and export to SQL formats.

Instructions

1️⃣ Install & Add the Element
Install the Bubble DB Schema plugin.

Drag the DB Schema element onto any page in your app.

2️⃣ Enable Data API (Required)

The plugin reads your schema from Bubble’s Data API.
You must enable it, or the schema cannot load.

Go to:

Settings → API

Enable all of the following:

✅ Enable Workflow API and backend workflows
✅ Enable Data API

3️⃣ Select Data Types to Include

Still under Settings → API → Data API, enable each data type you want to appear in the diagram.

✔ Example:

User

Event

Meeting

Company

Custom data types (any you want visualized)

⚠️ Only enabled data types will appear in the generated schema.

4️⃣ (Optional) Use Display Names

(Optional but recommended)

Enable:
✅ Use field display instead of ID for key names

This makes your schema more readable in dbdiagram.

5️⃣ View & Export Your Schema

Once loaded, you can:

📋 Copy schema
Copies the generated DBML to your clipboard.

🔗 Open dbdiagram
Automatically copies the schema and opens dbdiagram.io, where you can paste and visualize it instantly.

From dbdiagram.io, you can export to:

PostgreSQL

MySQL

SQL Server

Oracle

PDF / PNG / SVG

🔹 Notes & Limitations

The plugin does not modify your database.

No authentication token is required — it uses Bubble’s public Data API schema.

Large apps may take a moment to load.

Lists are represented as _ids fields for clarity.

Duplicate unique_id fields are automatically prevented.
